We get asked this question so frequently at Wild Plant Shop and it’s strange because most houseplants love the humidity of a bathroom. There are however a bunch of plants that thrive in a bathroom environment more than others, so here we go.
- The Begonia Maculata is a stunner, its polka dots stand out from the crowd and make it the perfect centre piece plant. It does however need a good amount of indirect sunlight, so if your bathroom is on the darker side you may want to look elsewhere.
- A perfect plant for that low light bathroom is the ZZ Plant. It’s incredibly difficult to kill a ZZ and they get quite bushy and established relatively quickly.
- Air Plants are great for bathrooms as they absorb their moisture from the air. They are also perfect for beginners as they take virtually no care at all.
- Croton Plants love high humidity and bring a splash of colour to your houseplant collection.
- Ferns grow on the rainforest floor so when you pop a fern in a bathroom you are echoing their natural habitat, they will thrive and if you choose a Boston Fern, you’re adding an air purifying plant to your bathroom too!
- Peace Lilies are another excellent air purifier and also give you a flash of flowers too! The humidity of a bathroom will help keep your peace lily luscious and green.
